- When you input an URL into your browser, your browser sends a request to the DNS server asking for the URL’s IP address.
- After your browser receives the IP address, it can then load the correct website in your window.
- The OS Cache keeps a record of all queries made to a DNS server from your browser is known as DNS cache.
Flush the OS’s DNS cache
- Right click on the start menu and choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
- Type in the command
ipconfig /flushdns - Press Enter and you will get this message:

Flush DNS cache in Brave
- Go to brave://net-internals/#dns
- Click the “Clear Host Cache” button.
Flush DNS cache in Chrome
- Go to chrome://net-internals/#dns
- Click the “Clear Host Cache” button.
Flush DNS cache in Firefox
- Go to firefox Settings & select the
Privacy & Securityin side panel - In the
Cookies and Site Datasection, click Clear Data - Remove the check mark in front of
Cookies and Site Data - With
Cached Web Contentcheck marked, click the Clear button.
